Why a courier and not the post?

Regular post accepts no responsibility for confidential documents, provides no proof of receipt, and delivery can take 1-3 days. For a notarial deed that has to be signed within 24 hours, a writ that has to be served by a deadline, or a negotiation document that must circulate discreetly between offices, a courier is the only workable option. At Hart voor Transport our couriers drive directly, keep documents in their personal custody (not in a boot among other shipments), and have a signature taken on delivery by an authorised person.

Our way of working for legal documents

Step 1: a phone call or email with the pick-up address, the delivery address and the desired delivery time. Step 2: a courier on site within around 60 minutes (faster in North Holland). Step 3: documents in a sealed envelope or legal folder. Step 4: a direct trip, no intermediate stops, no combining with other shipments. Step 5: personal delivery to the addressee or a colleague you have named. Signature on the waybill, timestamp, and on request a photo as proof for your file.

Yes. On every delivery the recipient signs the waybill. You receive a scan of the signed waybill plus an arrival time. On request, also a photo of the moment of hand-over.
No — serving a writ is reserved for a court bailiff. We can, however, deliver the original document to the bailiff in a very short time so that the bailiff can serve it the same day.
Yes, provided you give us the contact person and any screening procedures in advance. We are familiar with the access procedures for ministries, the House of Representatives and large government offices.
We never deliver legal and confidential documents without a personal signature. If nobody is present we get in touch, wait (for a small waiting charge) or return the document to you. Never in a letterbox or with neighbours.

Do you sign an NDA for confidential documents?

Yes. For clients in the notarial, legal and accountancy sectors our couriers sign an NDA before they accept the assignment. A standard NDA is available on request, and your own NDA is equally welcome.

Can only the addressee accept the document?

Yes, on request. We ask for ID verification on delivery and hand over only to the name on the envelope. If the person is not present, we bring the document back with us.

How fast is an urgent document in Amsterdam?

From our national network around within 60 minutes of driving; departure typically within 60 minutes of booking. So usually within 60 minutes in total from request to delivery at standard addresses (office, law firm).

Do you work with a sealed envelope?

Yes. You seal the envelope (wax, sticker, stamp); the courier accepts it without opening; a photo of the seal serves as proof of pick-up; delivery to the addressee, who checks that the seal is intact.

Can I set up a fixed document route?

Yes. Many law firms and notarial offices use us for a daily route between the office and the court/registry. From 3 trips per week a monthly account is advantageous both fiscally and operationally.

What happens if the document goes missing?

Every trip is under carrier liability. In the event of loss we notify our insurer immediately. Document security is a top priority for our couriers, with signed hand-over and tracking on every trip.

Do you drive to courts and registries?

Yes — courts in Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Rotterdam and Haarlem. Our couriers know the parking and hand-over procedures per building.
